A project for creating a chewing gum rich in probiotic microorganisms that improves the oral health has been developed by researchers of the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Laboratory of the University of Verona and our company! The collaboration between the University and SINTAL Group is an example of the application JOINT PROJECTS with the aim to bring together universities, companies and institutions in collaborative research project in order to encourage the implementation of research initiatives and pre-competitive development through resources from the University budget.
The innovative character of the study is to develop a chewing gum (one of the most used products in the world) for consumption in case of caries, periodontitis, halitosis and other infections with bacterial origin. The researchers believe, in fact, that the use of probiotics conveyed by gum could help to prevent those conditions naturally, minimizing the typical side effects of the traditional therapies.
